Platform Details

Additional context about the Dumfernley platform — its scope, known limitations, and what the access process involves in practice.

Scope of the platform

Dumfernley is an information-organisation system. Its scope covers the receipt, classification, arrangement, and structured display of information that has been made available through an established access configuration. The platform does not generate new information, make independent judgements, or provide advice of any kind.

The system handles information within the parameters of the configuration associated with each account. What is visible to a given user depends on what has been included in that configuration. Not all areas of the platform are accessible to all users.

What the platform does not do

The following are outside the scope of the Dumfernley platform:

  • Independent verification of the information it organises. The system displays what it receives; it does not confirm that the source information is accurate or complete.
  • Generation of predictive output or forecasts. The platform does not use available information to make projections.
  • Recommendations of any kind. The interface presents organised information; users draw their own conclusions from it.
  • Integration with external services not included in the configuration. The platform does not connect to third-party systems unless those connections are part of an established arrangement.
  • Real-time delivery of information from external sources not already available through the platform. Display reflects what has been received and classified, not live external feeds.

Limitations users should understand

Classification is rule-based

The classification logic applied by Dumfernley operates according to rules. These rules are designed to handle information consistently, but they do not interpret content in the way a human reader would. Records that are unusual or that fall outside defined categories may not be classified as a human reviewer would expect. Users who encounter classification results they do not understand can raise the matter with the support team.

Display reflects available input

Structured views in the Dumfernley interface reflect the information that has been received and classified. If information is incomplete, delayed in being received, or was not included in the configuration, it will not appear in the display. The absence of a record in the interface does not confirm that the record does not exist elsewhere.

No performance commitments

Dumfernley does not make public commitments about system uptime, classification speed, or the completeness of any display at a given moment. Performance characteristics are communicated as part of the access provisioning process, where applicable, and may vary based on the circumstances of each configuration.

The access process

How requests are received

Access requests submitted through the enquiry form are received by email at the support address. The team reads each request and assesses it based on the stated purpose and other relevant factors. There is no automated approval pathway.

What happens after submission

The support team may respond with clarifying questions, additional information, or a decision regarding the request. If access is to be established, the team will communicate the details required to proceed. If the team is unable to accommodate a request, they will endeavour to say so clearly.

No assumptions about outcomes

Submitting an access request does not create an entitlement to access. The team reviews each request on its own terms and reserves the right to decline or defer without being in breach of any obligation to the person who submitted the request.
